Dreaming in Paris of Lives Not Lived

We open with Hemingway and it's all downhill from there as we lament the lack of travel in 2020 and bemoan the inability for our three male leads in BEFORE SUNSET, INCEPTION and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS to ever achieve satisfaction.

Which puts us closer to being in the same category as Leonardo DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke as we'll ever be.

Okay, so maybe we settle for just being in Owen Wilson's company. We hope you've settled for being in our company as we dreamt of Paris this month and give a hint at what's to come next month with our TRILOGY IN THEORY.

Midnight in Paris (2011)

Though we may never fit into the Parisian lifestyle, at least in Woody Allen's MIDNIGHT IN PARIS we find a kindred spirit in Owen Wilson's bumbling DORK.

Granted a bumbling dork who is engaged to Rachel McAdams and begins an affair across time with Marion Cotillard. But basically the same guy as your favorite hosts on TRILOGY IN THEORY!

Inception (2010)

We continue our podcast tour of Paris (which is to say, not really) with great philosophical debate over the nature of dreams (also, not really) as one host finds Christopher Nolan's INCEPTION strangely intimate and the other is four levels deep into the process of filmmaking. By the end of it, no conclusions can be drawn other than we sound like two guys who have no business being in Paris.

Or your ears.

But here we are!

Before Sunset (2004)

The dream of TRILOGY IN THEORY started with a conversation on THE BEFORE TRILOGY... which means of course that one host will question the need of Richard Linklater to the whole venture while the other host reveals his true passion for these characters comes back to a rather attractive high school classmate. A finer pair of serious-minded cinephiles you will not find as we discuss BEFORE SUNSET for our second TRILOGY IN THEORY!
